Philmont Trek 2025

I am pleased to report that we have been awarded 2 12-day treks at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico for the 2025 season. We have space for up to 16 boys and 8 adults. The dates are July 25 to August 6, 2025. Participants will likely leave New York on July 23, 2025, and travel to Colorado to sightsee for 2 days and begin to adjust to the altitude. To participate, you must be 14 years old. The cost of the trek is $1,675. With airfare, lodging, etc., the cost per participant is in the area of $3,000. While that is a lot of money, having been there three times, I can tell you that this is (at least) a once in a lifetime experience.

Caveat- Just because you are old enough to participate, it does not mean you should on this Trek. Philmont is extremely physically and mentally demanding and you need both the strength and the maturity to handle it. If you have any doubts about whether you can do it as a 14-year-old, it may be best to wait 2 years. My son Christopher was old enough to go in 2021, but I thought it best if he wait until this year and that was definitely the right move.

If you are interested, please let me know ASAP, as an initial deposit of $150 per participant is due on December 1, 2023. Also, if we do not have enough scouts to fill 2 Treks, the first Trek will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks,

Rob Pfuhler
